One thing I hear from my students all the time is that they’re frustrated with social media. They post every day and show up, but they’re not getting any bookings. While it seems like a no brainer, post and get bookings… it’s not that simple. Social media ISN’T enough to book clients. Instead, you have to get in front of a larger audience, full of new faces to start growing your client base. I totally believe that once you get a larger client base and you serve them well, you’ll have repeat dream clients!! But, before you can do that, you have to reach them. I want to share three other places you should be advertising to grow your audience and increase your bookings as a photographer. Read on to learn my three photography marketing tips!
Try your local Facebook groups. Whether they’re a mom-specific group or just one for your area, make sure you join! Follow their rules as far as when and how you can advertise, but any time you can, SHARE SHARE SHARE! There’s SO many new faces in these groups you’ve never talked to before. Make sure your pitches are to the point and ready to go whenever you can share them. In these groups you can find models for your mini sessions and new clients. You’d be amazed how many people you can potentially connect with!
Another great way to reach a new market is to partner with local businesses. Find businesses that you love and would be a good match for your own. Maybe it’s working with a local planner for your mini-session setup. Or what about working with a local boutique for outfit inspiration for your clients? Finding ways to connect and work with your local network of business owners is an awesome way to build your audience. And don’t forget about connecting and collaborating with other business owners online. Hosting Clubhouse rooms together, doing Lives in groups, or other ways to build your education audience is always great too! It just really depends on your goals.
Ever heard the phrase, “You have to spend money to make money”? I think it’s true! I’m no expert in Facebook ads but I work with an amazing team that’s full of experts! These ads are the best way to reach a cold market. I use them for my courses and shop more than my photography, but it does help!
There’s nothing wrong with posting on social media! I really do believe it helps – and it keeps you fresh in people’s minds. But, to reach NEW faces, it helps to try other options and networking. I hope you are able to reach some new faces using these photography marketing tips and understand why social media isn’t enough to grow your business!
