Student Spotlight: Courtney Bradley of Courtney Bradley Photography
Sometimes life events give us the perfect opportunity to pivot! For Courtney Bradley of Courtney Bradley Photography that's exactly what happened. After 23 years in the hair industry not only was she ready to let her creative brain shift, but so was her body! Today's Student Spotlight features someone we can all relate to. She's based out of Michigan and growing her photography! A mom of 3 ranging between the ages of 13 and 21, she will encourage all of us to let change make the best of us!
Tell me a little about your photography business!
I offer Senior, family and boudoir sessions. Particularly wanting to focus on seniors and family mini sessions. I've been in business almost 3 years, but this I’ll be focusing on getting to the place where I can transition to strictly photography. I'll be closing the hair stylist side of me for good (besides friends and family of course!).
The journey has been great. I've made mistakes along the way but have learned so much. I know there was more to it than pushing a button. But had no idea how deep you could get! I’m a curious person so I love learning and I love teaching. Goals for my business are for people to have a good feeling after their session.
What started your photography journey?
My journey began after having a major surgery. I decided to take online classes and fell in love. I was able to finally begin photography because we were at a point in our lives we could afford for me to back away from one thing to begin another.
What is your favorite thing about running a photography business?
Favorite thing would be the fact I am a people pleaser. Ha! I love making people feel good. The business side is still a learning curve but the creative side is so fulfilling!
What is something you’ve achieved that you’re proud of?
In the business? Growing. I love that people are talking about Courtney Bradley Photography in a positive way. I have achieved being able to purchase my dream camera/lens.
If you could tell your past self one thing, what would it be?
It’s not as easy as you thought it would be. But it is SO MUCH more fulfilling than you ever dreamed of!
