This student spotlight is a mama with a full house! She’s got a toddler daughter, two step sons and four fur babies! That alone will keep you busy, but she also has an amazing photography business. She’s from Ringoes, NJ and enjoys baking some killer gluten free goods, reading and an escape to the mountains when time allows. Our student spotlight, Anne Haug of Golden Heart Photography, is a motherhood & family photographer and I know you’ll just love her story!
I am a Motherhood & Family Photographer. I niched down during my rebrand the past two years. I’ve been in business for 12, primarily did weddings. I have learned so much in my rebrand and have really focused on the experience my clients receive.
Ever since I could walk I was burning through disposable cameras and film. When my grandparents passed away my senior year of high school I actually changed my major from science to photography. I attended Drexel University and received a degree for Photography and a second for Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. Throughout my studies in college I missed the joy that photographing people to give them memories to cherish brought me. I made sure not to lose that in all the technical curriculum. The business Golden Heart Photography is actually named after a locket my grandparents had given me shortly before passing that has been lost.
I love sparking JOY for my clients. When I finish a session I can’t wait to get their beautiful images edited and delivered. It is the very best and favorite gift I get to give. I know that with motherhood often feeling so fleeting their momma hearts will cherish these small pieces of time for years to come.
I am really proud of my decision to niche down and rebrand. It was hard hanging up the do everything mentality, this focus and realization of where I needed to grow led to me being accepted into the mastermind which I am still over the moon about!
Don’t be afraid of change. I was so hung up on wanting to continue loving weddings but my family life made that hard. The boys didn’t understand why I wasn’t home most weekends. When we had our daughter I realized there was no joy left there for me. I focused on some family work and there it was JOY!
